Responsibilities:

As a Counselor Associate (CA), you will work under the supervision of a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC II or III) in a therapeutic setting, focusing on learning and gaining experience in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. This role is integral to supporting our patients on their recovery journey while working toward achieving CADC certification.

Essential Duties:

Knowledge Development: Acquire a thorough understanding of SUD and addiction, DSM-5, ASAM Criteria, and various counseling techniques (individual, group, family). Apply therapeutic theories and cultural competency in practice.

Treatment Planning: Assist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive assessments.

Counseling Responsibilities: Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions, demonstrating competence in diverse counseling methods.

Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress and ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the clinical team to ensure continuity of care and effective service delivery.

Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Patient Support: Provide guidance to patients and families regarding treatment processes and available resources, fostering a supportive therapeutic environment.

• Proficiency with electronic records and relevant software

• Commitment to professional growth and ethical standards

Education and Experience:

  • Computer literacy and mature judgment within our organizational culture
  • CADC-R or national equivalent, or higher
  • NPI Enrollment and DMAP (Medicaid) eligibility required
