Responsibilities:

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate empathy, professionalism and a strong desire to help patients and families struggling with substance use disorder. This candidate will have applied knowledge in ASAM and will be a team player who is eager to apply their skill set in a variety of services and/or increase their skill set through varied experience. This individual will have a positive outlook, be flexible in schedule, communicative, and detail oriented.

As part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals dedicated to providing healing and hope to patients, families, and communities affected by substance use disorder, Admission Specialists at Serenity Lane:

  • Provide information to callers regarding services, business office procedures and referrals.
  • Gather pertinent information from caller: demographic data, presenting problem, information pertinent to problem, referral source and resources.
  • Complete, track and provide follow up information on all applicable paperwork.
  • Enter all information into admit computer system. Monitor callback list daily and enter notes into the computer system.
  • Provide Medical Records Dept. with accurate release of information to generate notification of an admission to the referring agency/physician, etc.
  • Complete initial screening assessment with client, including testing.
  • Complete all applicable paperwork: assessment form, pre-registration worksheet, release of information
  • Direct to appropriate program/service or referral with a warm handoff.
  • Route paperwork as appropriate.
  • Complete Employer evaluations or Health Professional Evaluations per protocol and department policy.
  • Admit patients to programs.
  • Complete Terms of Admissions and Admissions Contracts.
  • Complete paperwork in Admissions packet.
  • Follow admission checklist as procedure for admission.
  • Distribute paperwork as directed on checklist.
  • Follow and use the admit checklist.
  • Properly store patient's luggage at admit in the locked hallway closet.
  • Properly store patient's car keys at admit in the secure search room with key code.
  • Inquire at first call about professional referent and add it to the patients chart.
  • Email outreach team the referent name and number.
  • Work with outreach team to prioritize assessment and admits for our professional referents.
  • If patient has medical diagnosis send for medical review prior to scheduling admit to HU or Residential.
  • If patient has mental health diagnosis send for high-risk review prior to scheduling admit to HU or Residential.

Education and Experience:

  • CADC I required. CADC II a plus.
  • Associates Degree required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years in the field of behavioral health required.
  • 3 years or more in the field of addiction a plus.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to answer phone with a smile and be compassionate during admission process.
  • Ability to sit with patients in crisis.
  • Knowledge of addiction and treatment process.
  • Ability to gather information over the phone and type it at the same time.
